Mixed Berry Mead

Ingredients

  • 48oz frozen mixed berries
  • 3lbs of honey
  • 1 tsp yeast nutrient
  • 1/2 tsp Lalvin 71B-1122
  • Water

Instructions

  1. Using a sealable container, poor frozen berries into it, and let thaw for 24 hours with the cover on the container.
  2. Place fermentation container on scale, and add the honey. Be sure to zero the scale prior to pouring in the honey. Remove from scale.
  3. Warm 1 qt of water to above 100 F. Pour that water into the honey and thoroughly mix the honey and water until the honey is fully dissolved.
  4. Pour the fruit and all of its juices into the honey an water mixture. Thoroughly stir for about 5 minutes to insure full mixing of all ingredients.
  5. Take a SG reading and write it down.
  6. Mix in the yeast nutrient.
  7. Pitch the yeast, cover, add the airlock, and place in a dark place for 2 weeks.
